Jefferson Lab (Newport News), Economic Impact Analysis

In response to a request for services from Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA) and Jefferson Lab, the Virginia Tech Center for Economic and Community Engagement (CECE) team, in partnership with Mangum Economics, assessed the economic impact and some qualitative impacts of the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility located in Newport News, VA. This summary analysis of the lab’s impacts at the national level and community level serve as an update of previous work completed by College of William & Mary Mason School of Business faculty in 2018. This analysis will set the groundwork for a future comprehensive examination of the lab’s impact at national, state, and regional levels.
