Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance, Economic Impact Assessment of Crushed Stone Quarrying in Virginia

In 2023, the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance (VTCA) commissioned the Virginia Tech Center for Economic and Community Engagement (CECE) to conduct a study of the construction aggregates and mineral mining industry. The goal of the study was to increase understanding of the industry and its importance to the larger state economy so that governments and policymakers will be better motivated and informed to support it. The report helps to define the industry for the general public, characterize its activities in the Commonwealth, and describe its economic significance to Virginia’s economic well-being.
